We improve on a recent determination of {alpha}{sub s} from {gamma}({upsilon}(1S){yields}{gamma}X)/{gamma}({upsilon}(1S){yields}X) with CLEO data by taking into account color octet contributions and avoiding any model dependence in the extraction. We obtain {alpha}{sub s}(M{sub {upsilon}}{sub (1S)})=0.184{sub -0.014}{sup +0.015}, which corresponds to {alpha}{sub s}(M{sub Z})=0.119{sub -0.005}{sup +0.006}.

The 2009 world average of αs
AbstractMeasurements of αs, the coupling strength of the Strong Interaction between quarks and gluons, are summarised and an updated value of the world average of
Determination of the QCD coupling from the static energy and the free energy
• Physics
Physical Review D
• 2019
We present two determinations of the strong coupling $$\alpha_s$$. The first one is from the static energy at three-loop accuracy, and may be considered an update of earlier determinations by some of
NLO QCD corrections to five-jet production at LEP and the extraction of αs(MZ)
• Physics
• 2010
The highest exclusive jet multiplicity studied at LEP experiments is five. In this paper we compute the next-to-leading order QCD corrections to e+e− annihilation to five jets, essentially closing
A Precise Determination of $$\alpha_s$$ From LEP Thrust Data Using Effective Field Theory
• Physics
• 2008
Starting from a factorization theorem in Soft-Collinear Effective Theory, the thrust distribution in e+e− collisions is calculated including resummation of the next-to-next-to-next-to leading
Strong coupling constant extraction from high-multiplicity Z + jets observables.
• Physics
• 2018
We present a strong coupling constant extraction at next-to-leading order QCD accuracy using ATLAS Z + 2 ,3,4 jets data. This is the first extraction using processes with a dependency on high
A first estimate of triply heavy baryon masses from the pNRQCD perturbative static potential
• Physics
• 2012
Within pNRQCD we compute the masses of spin-averaged triply heavy baryons using the now-available NNLO pNRQCD potentials and three-body variational approach. We focus in particular on the role of the
A taste of dark matter: flavour constraints on pseudoscalar mediators
• Physics
