We present an extraction of the pion-nucleon (πN) scattering lengths from low-energy πN scattering, by fitting a representation based on Roy–Steiner equations to the low-energy data base. We show that the resulting values confirm the scattering-length determination from pionic atoms, and discuss the stability of the fit results regarding electromagnetic corrections and experimental normalization uncertainties in detail. Our results provide further evidence for a large πN σ-term, σπN = 58(5) MeV…

Pion-nucleon scattering to O(p3) in heavy baryon SU(3)-flavor chiral perturbation theory

We calculate the complete T-matrices of pion-nucleon (πN) scattering to the third order in heavy baryon SU(3)-flavor chiral perturbation theory. The baryon mass in the chiral limit M0 and the

Pion-Nucleon Sigma Term from Lattice QCD.

An analysis of the pion-nucleon σ-term σ_{πN} using six ensembles with 2+1+1-flavor highly improved staggered quark action generated by the MILC Collaboration shows that the leading contribution to the isoscalar scalar charge comes from Nπ and Nππ states.

Flavor decomposition of the pion-nucleon σ-term

A bstractWe re-analyze the flavor decomposition of the pion-nucleon σ-term in the framework of baryon chiral perturbation to fourth order. We employ a covariant and the heavy baryon framework

Elastic nucleon-pion scattering at m π ≈ 200 MeV from lattice QCD

: Elastic nucleon-pion scattering amplitudes are computed using lattice QCD on a single ensemble of gauge field configurations with N f = 2 + 1 dynamical quark flavors and m π = 200 MeV . The s -wave

A survey on existing model calculations as well as experimental data are performed and a predicted range for the isoscalar chromomagnetic dipole moment sigma term is derived and it is demonstrated that the former can be mapped to the third moment of the nucleon twist-three chiral-odd distribution functions.

Bridging Hadronic CP-Violation to Twist-Three Distributions

The nucleon sigma term of the isoscalar and isovector quark chromo-magnetic dipole moments are essential inputs for the determination of the P, CP-odd pion-nucleon couplings induced by quark

Abstract Nucleon sigma terms are fundamental properties of the nucleons and are important input quantities for direct dark matter detection experiments. Here we present a determination of these sigma

High-Precision Determination of the Pion-Nucleon σ Term from Roy-Steiner Equations.

We present a determination of the pion-nucleon (πN) σ term σ_{πN} based on the Cheng-Dashen low-energy theorem (LET), taking advantage of the recent high-precision data from pionic atoms to pin down

Uncertainty Quantification of the Pion-Nucleon Low-Energy Coupling Constants up to Fourth Order in Chiral Perturbation Theory

We extract the statistical uncertainties for the pion-nucleon ($\pi N$) low energy constants (LECs) up to fourth order $\mathcal{O}(Q^4)$ in the chiral expansion of the nuclear effective Lagrangian.

Isospin breaking in low-energy pion-nucleon scattering.

Low-energy pion-nucleon data for isospin invariance is analyzed by comparing charge-exchange amplitudes derived from charge-Exchange data with those predicted from recent elastic data through the application of isospIn invariance.

Ground-state energy of pionic hydrogen to one loop

Abstract. We investigate the ground-state energy of the $\pi^-p$ atom (pionic hydrogen) in the framework of QCD + QED. In particular, we evaluate the strong energy-level shift. We perform the
