We study a solution to the Einstein field equations on an eight-dimensional pseudo-Riemannian manifold (a spacetime of four space dimensions and four time dimensions) that exhibits inflation of three of the four space dimensions and deflation of three of the four time dimensions. Hubble parameters $(\mathbb{H}_4, \mathbb{H}_8)$ exist for each of the unscaled dimensions $(\textrm{time}x^4, \textrm{space}x^8)$. The scale factor for the three ordinary space dimensions $(x^1, x^2, x^3)$ is \$a = a(x…

### Latest inflation model constraints from cosmic microwave background measurements : Addendum

• Physics
• 2008
In this addendum to Phys. Rev. D 74, 023502 (2006), we present an update of cosmological constraints on single-field inflation in light of the Wilkinson Microwave Ansiotropy Probe satellite mission

### Inflationary universe: A possible solution to the horizon and flatness problems

The standard model of hot big-bang cosmology requires initial conditions which are problematic in two ways: (1) The early universe is assumed to be highly homogeneous, in spite of the fact that

### Cosmological parameters from SDSS and WMAP

• Physics
• 2004
We measure cosmological parameters using the three-dimensional power spectrum P(k) from over 200,000 galaxies in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) in combination with WMAP and other data. Our

### FIVE-YEAR WILKINSON MICROWAVE ANISOTROPY PROBE OBSERVATIONS: COSMOLOGICAL INTERPRETATION

• Physics
• 2008
The Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) 5-year data provide stringent limits on deviations from the minimal, six-parameter Λ cold dark matter model. We report these limits and use them to

### SEVEN-YEAR WILKINSON MICROWAVE ANISOTROPY PROBE (WMAP) OBSERVATIONS: COSMOLOGICAL INTERPRETATION

• Physics
• 2011
The combination of seven-year data from WMAP and improved astrophysical data rigorously tests the standard cosmological model and places new constraints on its basic parameters and extensions. By

### Detection of the Baryon Acoustic Peak in the Large-Scale Correlation Function of SDSS Luminous Red Galaxies

• Physics
• 2005
We present the large-scale correlation function measured from a spectroscopic sample of 46,748 luminous red galaxies from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. The survey region covers 0.72 h-3 Gpc3 over

### Cosmological constraints from the SDSS luminous red galaxies

• Physics
• 2006
We measure the large-scale real-space power spectrum P(k) using luminous red galaxies (LRGs) in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) and use this measurement to sharpen constraints on cosmological

### FIVE-YEAR WILKINSON MICROWAVE ANISOTROPY PROBE OBSERVATIONS: LIKELIHOODS AND PARAMETERS FROM THE WMAP DATA

• Physics
• 2008
This paper focuses on cosmological constraints derived from analysis of WMAP data alone. A simple ΛCDM cosmological model fits the five-year WMAP temperature and polarization data. The basic

### Cosmology for Grand Unified Theories with Radiatively Induced Symmetry Breaking

• Physics
• 1982
The treatment of first-order phase transitions for standard grand unified theories is shown to break down for models with radiatively induced spontaneous symmetry breaking. It is argued that proper
