Currently proposed tagging ontologies are mostly focused on the definition of a common schema for representing the agents involved in a tagging process. In this paper we describe preliminary research around the idea of extending tagging ontologies by incorporating some domain specific class definitions and relations. We illustrate our idea with a particular use case where a tag recommendation system is driven by such an ontology. Besides our use case, we believe that such extended tagging…

A Semantic Hybrid Approach for Sound Recommendation
TLDR
This work describes a hybrid recommendation approach for recommending sounds to users by exploiting and semantically enriching textual information such as tags and sounds descriptions using a semantic version of the feature combination hybrid approach.
Sound and Music Recommendation with Knowledge Graphs
TLDR
This work describes how to create and exploit a knowledge graph to supply a hybrid recommendation engine with information that builds on top of a collections of documents describing musical and sound items and shows how the semantic expansion of the initial descriptions helps in achieving much better recommendation quality in terms of aggregated diversity and novelty.
1 Sound and Music Recommendation with Knowledge Graphs
Tag Recommendation using Folksonomy Information for Online Sound Sharing Platforms
TLDR
A new perspective for tag recommendation is explored which, besides taking advantage of information from the folksonomy, employs a sound-specific ontology to guide users during the annotation process, and can be easily generalised and thus be of use to other information sharing platforms.

To review the literature on such methods, algorithms for obtaining and analyzing key terms are developed, and a special feature is the consideration of the dynamics of trends in knowledge domains.
Sound-Word2Vec: Learning Word Representations Grounded in Sounds
TLDR
This work treats sound as a first-class citizen, studying downstream 6textual tasks which require aural grounding and proposes sound-word2vec – a new embedding scheme that learns specialized word embeddings grounded in sounds.
The Contribution of Semiotics to Knowledge Organization for music information
The primary goal of knowledge organization (KO) is to determine which concepts should be considered as representing a field of knowledge. From a Semiotic point of view, different kinds of music
The Effects of Noisy Labels on Deep Convolutional Neural Networks for Music Tagging
TLDR
It is shown that networks can be effective despite relatively large error rates in groundtruth datasets, while conjecturing that label noise can be the cause of varying tag-wise performance differences.
The Effects of Noisy Labels on Deep Convolutional Neural Networks for Music Classification
TLDR
It is shown that networks can be effective despite relatively large error rates in groundtruth datasets, while conjecturing that label noise can be the cause of varying tagwise performance differences.
Deep neural networks for music tagging
TLDR
This paper empirically investigates the effect of audio preprocessing on music tagging with deep neural networks and shows that many commonly used input preprocessing techniques are redundant except magnitude compression.

TLDR
It is the view is that the conventional approach provides very limited semantic value for collaboration, and in cases where there is some semantic value, automatically sharing semantics via computer manipulations is extremely problematic.
MUTO: the modular unified tagging ontology
TLDR
This paper critically reviews available tagging ontologies and presents a unified vocabulary that combines the 'best of' these ontologies in one consistent schema.

Ontologies are us: a unified model of social networks and semantics
In our work we extend the traditional bipartite model of ontologies with the social dimension, leading to a tripartite model of actors, concepts and instances. We demonstrate the application of this

Embodied as (Web) services, they facilitate resource discovery and retrieval by acting as semantic road maps, thereby making possible a common orientation for indexers and future users, either human or machine.
Collaborative Creation of Communal Hierarchical Taxonomies in Social Tagging Systems
TLDR
A simple but remarkably effective algorithm for converting a large corpus of tags annotating objects in a tagging system into a navigable hierarchical taxonomy of tags is discovered.
