We present our results of the spectroscopic study of the lenticular galaxy NGC 4143 - an outskirt member of the Ursa Major cluster. Using the observations at the 6-m SAO RAS telescope with the SCORPIO-2 spectrograph and also the archive data of panoramic spectroscopy with the SAURON IFU at the WHT, we have detected an extended inclined gaseous disk which is traced up to a distance of about 3.5 kpc from the center, with a spin approximately opposite to the spin of the stellar disk. The galaxy…

On the angular momentum history of galactic discs
The stellar mass, size and rotational velocity of galactic disks all grow from redshift ~2 to the present by amounts that are estimated from observationally derived scaling relations. The product of
Disc growth and quenching
Based on well-established scaling relation for star-forming galaxies as a function of redshift, we argue that the implied growth by a large factor of their angular momentum requires that the
Environmental effects on the UV upturn in local clusters of galaxies
We explore the dependence of ultraviolet (UV) upturn colours in early-type cluster galaxies on the properties of their parent clusters (such as velocity dispersion and X-ray luminosity) and on the
The Gas Kinematics, Excitation, and Chemistry, in Connection with Star Formation, in Lenticular Galaxies
We present results of long-slit and panoramic spectroscopy of extended gaseous disks in 18 nearby S0 galaxies, mostly in groups. The gas in our S0s is found to be often accreted from outside that is
Calibrating Star Formation in WISE using Total Infrared Luminosity
We present accurate resolved $WISE$ photometry of galaxies in the combined SINGS and KINGFISH sample. The luminosities in the W3 12$\mu$m and W4 23$\mu$m bands are calibrated to star formation rates
New lessons from the H i size–mass relation of galaxies
We revisit the H i size-mass relation of galaxies with a sample of more than 500 nearby galaxies covering over five orders of magnitude in H i mass and more than 10 B-band magnitudes. The relation is
Study on atmospheric optical turbulence above Mt. Shatdzhatmaz in 2007--2013
We present the results of the atmospheric optical turbulence (OT) measurements performed atop Mt. Shatdzhatmaz at the installation site of new 2.5-m telescope of Sternberg Astronomical Institute.
The properties of early-type galaxies in the Ursa Major cluster
Using SDSS-DR7 and NASA/IPAC Extragalactic Database spectroscopic data, we identify 166 galaxies as members of the Ursa Major cluster with Mr < -13.5 mag. We morphological classify all galaxies by
Anatomy of Ursa Majoris
A nearby friable cloud in Ursa Majoris contains 270 galaxies with radial velocities 500 < VLG < 1500 km s^-1 inside the area of RA= [11h; 13h] and DEC= [+40deg; +60deg]. At present, 97 galaxies of
The ninth data release of the sloan digital sky survey: First spectroscopic data from the sdss-iii baryon oscillation spectroscopic survey
The Sloan Digital Sky Survey III (SDSS-III) presents the first spectroscopic data from the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS). This ninth data release (DR9) of the SDSS project includes
