We present our results of the spectroscopic study of the lenticular galaxy NGC 4143 - an outskirt member of the Ursa Major cluster. Using the observations at the 6-m SAO RAS telescope with the SCORPIO-2 spectrograph and also the archive data of panoramic spectroscopy with the SAURON IFU at the WHT, we have detected an extended inclined gaseous disk which is traced up to a distance of about 3.5 kpc from the center, with a spin approximately opposite to the spin of the stellar disk. The galaxy…

On the angular momentum history of galactic discs
- Physics
- 2020
The stellar mass, size and rotational velocity of galactic disks all grow from redshift ~2 to the present by amounts that are estimated from observationally derived scaling relations. The product of…
Disc growth and quenching
- PhysicsMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society: Letters
- 2019
Based on well-established scaling relation for star-forming galaxies as a function of redshift, we argue that the implied growth by a large factor of their angular momentum requires that the…
Environmental effects on the UV upturn in local clusters of galaxies
- PhysicsMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society
- 2019
We explore the dependence of ultraviolet (UV) upturn colours in early-type cluster galaxies on the properties of their parent clusters (such as velocity dispersion and X-ray luminosity) and on the…
The Gas Kinematics, Excitation, and Chemistry, in Connection with Star Formation, in Lenticular Galaxies
- PhysicsThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
- 2019
We present results of long-slit and panoramic spectroscopy of extended gaseous disks in 18 nearby S0 galaxies, mostly in groups. The gas in our S0s is found to be often accreted from outside that is…
Calibrating Star Formation in WISE using Total Infrared Luminosity
- Physics
- 2017
We present accurate resolved $WISE$ photometry of galaxies in the combined SINGS and KINGFISH sample. The luminosities in the W3 12$\mu$m and W4 23$\mu$m bands are calibrated to star formation rates…
New lessons from the H i size–mass relation of galaxies
- Physics
- 2016
We revisit the H i size-mass relation of galaxies with a sample of more than 500 nearby galaxies covering over five orders of magnitude in H i mass and more than 10 B-band magnitudes. The relation is…

We present the results of the atmospheric optical turbulence (OT) measurements performed atop Mt. Shatdzhatmaz at the installation site of new 2.5-m telescope of Sternberg Astronomical Institute.…
The properties of early-type galaxies in the Ursa Major cluster

A nearby friable cloud in Ursa Majoris contains 270 galaxies with radial velocities 500 < VLG < 1500 km s^-1 inside the area of RA= [11h; 13h] and DEC= [+40deg; +60deg]. At present, 97 galaxies of…
