The hypothalamic peptides, orexin-A and orexin-B, have been implicated in the regulation of feeding behavior. In starved rats catabolic activity quickly predominates, reinforced by elevated corticosterone, independent of ACTH, implicating adrenal activity as a metabolic regulator.
