Gli zinc-finger proteins are known as downstream mediators of the evolutionary conserved Hedgehog pathway. In zebrafish, gli2 functions differently from Gli2 in mammals. This difference could be due to the gli2 duplication in teleosts evolution and partial redundancy between two duplicated genes. Here, we report a novel zebrafish gli2-like cDNA.
