Ornithine-delta-aminotransferase catalyzes the conversion of ornithine to glutamate-gamma-semialdehyde. In humans, deficiency of this mitochondrial matrix enzyme results in the progressive blinding disorder, gyrate atrophy of the choroid and retina.
