BACKGROUND & AIMS The multidrug resistance protein (MRP) isoforms MRP2 (ABCC2) and MRP3 (ABCC3) play a decisive role in the hepatic secretion of endogenous and xenobiotic conjugates and are differentially expressed in hepatocytes and cholangiocytes.
