Modern redshift surveys such as the 2 degree field Galaxy Redshift Survey (2dFGRS) and the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) reveal fully 3-dimensional distribution of 10 5 - 6 galaxies over a large cosmological volume ≃ 0.1-1 [h - 1 Gpc] 3 . It is well established that the galaxies in these surveys show strong clustering. To the eye, the galaxies are distributed along sheet-like and/ or filamentary superclusters. The CfA Great Wall, Southern Great Wall and the recently discovered SDSS Great Wall… Expand
Quantifying cosmic superstructures
The large-scale structure (LSS) found in galaxy redshift surveys and in computer simulations of cosmic structure formation shows a very complex network of galaxy clusters, filaments and sheets aroundExpand
Multiscale morphology of the galaxy distribution
Many statistical methods have been proposed in the last years for analysing the spatial distribution of galaxies. Very few of them, however, can handle properly the border effects of complexExpand
The three dimensional skeleton: tracing the filamentary structure of the universe
The skeleton formalism aims at extracting and quantifying the filamentary structure of the universe is generalized to 3D density fields; a numerical method for computating a local approximation ofExpand
The shape and size distribution of H ii regions near the percolation transition
Using Shapefinders, which are ratios of Minkowski functionals, we study the morphology of neutral hydrogen (H I) density fields, simulated using seminumerical technique (inside-out), at variousExpand
Geometry and interaction of structures in homogeneous isotropic turbulence
Abstract A strategy to extract turbulence structures from direct numerical simulation (DNS) data is described along with a systematic analysis of geometry and spatial distribution of the educedExpand
Scale locality of the energy cascade using real space quantities
© 2018 American Physical Society. The classical energy cascade in turbulence as described by Richardson and Kolmogorov is predominantly a conjecture relying on the locality of interactions betweenExpand
A priori and a posteriori investigations for developing large eddy simulations of multi-species turbulent mixing under high-pressure conditions
A Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) database was created representing mixing of species under high-pressure conditions. The configuration considered is that of a temporally evolving mixing layer. TheExpand
Impact of pore structure and morphology on flow and transport characteristics in randomly repacked grains with different angularities
Abstract The flow and transport behaviors in porous media are closely linked to the structure and morphology of the pore space. A fundamental objective of most studies of porous media is to link theExpand
Morphological and statistical features of reaction zones in MILD and premixed combustion
Abstract Direct numerical simulation (DNS) results of turbulent MILD premixed and conventional (undiluted) premixed combustion have been investigated to shed light on the physical aspects of reactionExpand
Physical aspects and modelling of turbulent MILD combustion
Moderate or Intense Low-oxygen Dilution (MILD) combustion is one of combustion technologies which can improve efficiency and reduce emissions simultaneously. This combustion type is characterised byExpand
