We consider Pristimantis achuar as junior synonym of P. luscombei, based on morphological and genetic evidence. Paratype specimens of P. luscombei are part of a new species, which lead to taxonomic confusion regarding the identity of P. luscombei. We describe and name this new species as Pristimantis miktos sp. nov. from Juyuintza, Pastaza province, eastern lowlands of Ecuador. Morphological diagnostic characters used to distinguish the new species from other brownish Amazonian Pristimantis are… Expand

First country records of Pristimantis luscombei (Duellman and Mendelson) and Syncope tridactyla (Duellman and Mendelson) in eastern lowlands of Ecuador (Amphibia: Anura: Strabomantidae, Microhylidae)
along the Equator, at eastern lowlands of Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, which receives one of the highest levels of rainfall within all lowland Amazonia (Vigle 2008). These environmental conditionsExpand
A New Species of the Pristimantis frater Group (Anura: Strabomantidae) from the Eastern Evergreen Lowland Forests Of Ecuador
TLDR
A new species of Pristimantis from evergreen lowland forest in the Amazon Basin of Ecuador is described, possessing dense black reticulations on upper and lower borders of the iris and a dorsum that is orange or dark reddish brown without distinct pattern in life. Expand
Systematics of treefrogs of the Hypsiboas calcaratus and Hypsiboas fasciatus species complex (Anura, Hylidae) with the description of four new species
TLDR
Examination of the type material of Hyla steinbachi shows that it is not conspecific with H. fasciatus and thus is removed from its synonymy, and five candidate species from the Guianan region, Peru, and Bolivia are left as unconfirmed. Expand
A New Species of Eleutherodactylus (Anura: Leptodactylidae) from the Lowland Rainforests of Amazonian Ecuador, with Notes on the Eleutherodactylus frater Assembly
A new species of Eleutherodactylus is described from the Amazonian lowlands of Ecuador. It is distinguished by bright red leg coloration in life, an acuminate snout in dorsal view, a partiallyExpand
Integrative taxonomy reveals cryptic Amazonian species of Pristimantis (Anura: Strabomantidae)
TLDR
Multivariate analyses of qualitative and quantitative morphological and bioacoustic characters, and phylogenetic analyses support the hypothesis that two Bolivian Pristimantis with taxonomic problems represent different, previously unknown, cryptic lineages. Expand
A New Species of Pristimantis (Anura: Strabomantidae) from the Pacific Coast of the Darien Province, Panama, with a Molecular Analysis of its Phylogenetic Position
TLDR
The finding of another endemic frog from eastern Panama lends further support to the concept of the Darién as a center of endemism and not just a conduit between continents. Expand
Insights from Integrative Systematics Reveal Cryptic Diversity in Pristimantis Frogs (Anura: Craugastoridae) from the Upper Amazon Basin
TLDR
Several morphological characters such as degree of tympanum exposure, skin texture, ulnar/tarsal tubercles and sexual secondary characters were found to be useful for diagnosing species in the Pristimantis acuminatus complex, providing an integrated framework for inventorying the greatly underestimated biodiversity in Amazonia. Expand
A NEW SPECIES OF FROG OF THE ELEUTHERODACTYLUS LACRIMOSUS ASSEMBLAGE (LEPTODACTYLIDAE) FROM THE WESTERN AMAZON BASIN, WITH COMMENTS ON THE UTILITY OF CANOPY SURVEYS IN LOWLAND RAINFOREST
TLDR
It is found that even limited sampling effort in the canopy can greatly improve efficiency of biological inventories and the effect of lack of sampling in the forest canopy in the understanding of tropical amphibian communities. Expand
Comparative Phylogeography of Direct-Developing Frogs (Anura: Craugastoridae: Pristimantis) in the Southern Andes of Colombia
TLDR
Large effective population sizes were found in the three species and two highly divergent lineages were detected within P. jubatus and P. palmeri, suggesting regional scale patterns may be associated with local scale processes in promoting differentiation among populations in the Andes. Expand
Biogeographic patterns of colombian frogs and toads
Using the data provided in Ruiz-Carranza et al. (1996) the distributions of the 540 species of frogs and toads are partitioned among ten ecogeographic units of Colombia defined on the basis ofExpand
