The Internet is inherently a multipath network: For an underlying network with only a single path, connecting various nodes would have been debilitatingly fragile. Unfortunately, traditional Internet technologies have been designed around the restrictive assumption of a single working path between a source and a destination. The lack of native multipath support constrains network performance even as the underlying network is richly connected and has redundant multiple paths. Computer networks…

Improving Content Delivery with Size-Aware Routing in Hybrid Satellite / Terrestrial Networks

TLDR
An intelligent path selector using the content size to maximize users QoE in heterogeneous networks is proposed, which shows a significant improvement of the delivery performance, outperforming MP-TCP.

Improving Multipath Routing of TCP Flows by Network Exploration

TLDR
TCP-path is studied, a protocol that employs a distributed network exploration mechanism based on broadcasting the TCP-SYN packet to identify and select the fastest available path to the destination host, on the fly, and TFE, which restricts TCP-path application to elephant flows to reduce the exploration broadcast overhead and the size of forwarding tables thus improving its scalability.

Anatomy of Multipath BGP Deployment in a Large ISP Network

TLDR
A measurement study on the deployment of M-BGP in a large Internet service provider (ISP) network that focuses on Hurricane Electric, a global ISP that connects with hundreds of major exchange points and exchanges IP traffic with thousands of different networks.

SDN Orchestration for Next Generation Inter-Networking: A Multipath Forwarding Approach

TLDR
This work proposes a novel approach to build a conducive inter-networking ambiance for future data centric applications by exploiting edge multiplicity of transit ISPs present across different IXPs to leverage a cross layer coordination between network stack at access ISP subscribers and the network infrastructure.

An Optimized Load Balance Solution for Multi-homed Host in Heterogeneous Wireless Networks

TLDR
The proposed model provided a novel user-centric scheme for multihoming for multi-radio access technologies (multi-RAT) and reveals an efficient transmission mechanism for a better quality of service, traffic management, and availability solutions.

This work proves that RAMP is a NP-hard problem, presents a pseudo-polynomial time solution to solve a special case of RAMP, and proposes a (1 + \epsilon)-approximation is proposed to solve the optimization version of the RAMP problem.

Coupled Congestion Control for Multipath Transport Protocols

TLDR
A congestion control algorithm which couples the congestion control algorithms running on different subflows by linking their increase functions, and dynamically controls the overall aggresiveness of the multipath flow is presented, which is a practical algorithm that is fair to TCP at bottlenecks while moving traffic away from congested links.
