Emergent or submergent macrophytes can enhance the survival of Anopheles larvae by providing favorable microhabitat and refuge from predation. The relationships among the amount of aquatic macrophyte cover, the density of Gambusia affinis, and survivorship of Anopheles freeborni larvae were tested experimentally.
