}We describe two experiments in which we investigate the synchronization of coupled periodic oscillators. Each experimental system consists of two identical coupled electronic periodic oscillators that display bursts of desynchronization events similar to those observed previously in coupled chaotic systems. We measure the degree of synchronization as a function of coupling strength. In the first experiment, high-quality synchronization is achieved for all coupling strengths above a critical…

Experimental observation on the effect of coupling on different synchronization phenomena in coupled nonidentical Chua’s oscillators
- Physics

Experimental results are presented on the effect of coupling on synchronization of two coupled nonidentical Chua’s oscillators. Two oscillators are coupled in unidirectional drive response mode. The…

We describe a new method for achieving approximate lag and anticipating synchronization in unidirectionally coupled chaotic oscillators. The method uses a specific parameter mismatch between the…
Attractor Bubbling in Coupled hyperchaotic oscillators
- PhysicsInt. J. Bifurc. Chaos
- 2000
Investigating experimentally attractor bubbling in a system of two coupled hyperchaotic electronic circuits and comparing the observed behavior to several proposed criteria for estimating the regime of high-quality synchronization found that none of these methods is completely satisfactory for predicting accurately the regimes of attractor Bubbling and high- quality synchronization.

The adaptive synchronization scheme proposed by John and Amritkar was employed into the Belousov-Zhabotinsky (BZ) 4-variable-Montanator model system. By the parameter adjustment, chaos…

Forced versus coupled dynamics in Earth system modelling and prediction
- Environmental Science
- 2005
It is shown that for a considerable fraction of parameter- and state-space, the two approaches qualitatively differ, which suggests that bistability and intermittent predictability, when found in a forced model set-up, should always be cross-validated with alternative coupling designs before being taken for granted.

Intermittent Loss of Synchronization in Coupled Chaotic Oscillators: Toward a New Criterion for High-Quality Synchronization.
- PhysicsPhysical review letters
- 1996
A simple method for rapidly selecting the coupling schemes that are most likely to produce high-quality synchronization is suggested, demonstrating that the standard synchronization criterion is not always useful in experiments.

Designing a Coupling That Guarantees Synchronization between Identical Chaotic Systems

We examine synchronization between identical chaotic systems. A rigorous criteria is presented which, if satisfied, guarantees that the coupling produces linearly stable synchronous motion. The…
