Inflammation caused by insoluble microcrystalline calcium salts was compared with inflammation elicited by soluble carrageenan and monosodium urate crystals, in rats' paws. Local and systemic responses to four calcium crystals, viz. pyrophosphate, triphosphate, oxalate, and tartrate were studied.
