Delafossites are promising candidates for photocatalysis applications because of their chemical stability and absorption in the solar region of the electromagnetic spectrum. For example, CuAlO2 has good chemical stability but has a large indirect bandgap (~3 eV), so that efforts to improve its absorption in the solar region through alloying are investigated. The effect of dilute alloying on the optical absorption of powdered CuAl1-xFexO2 (x = 0.0-1.0) is measured and compared to electronic band…

Electronic structure of CuAlO2 and CuScO2 delafossites under pressure
The electronic structure of CuAlO 2 and CuScO 2 delafossites is investigated by means of optical absorption measurements under pressure and ab initio band structure calculations. Measurements are
Electronic state and concentration of Fe3+ in CuAl1−Fe O2 determined by magnetic measurements
Abstract CuAlO2 is among several ternary delafossites in which the electronic bandgap is less than the optical bandgap due to Laporte selection rules. Because alloying is expected to provide band
Electronic structure and optoelectronic properties of transparent p-type conducting CuAlO2
Electrical and optical properties of CuAlO2, a p-type conducting transparent oxide, were examined for the thin films prepared by the pulsed laser deposition technique. The indirect and direct allowed
Magnetic properties of Fe-doped CuAlO2 and role of impurities
The delafossite CuAlO2 is a rare p-type semiconductor with potential applications as a thermoelectric and as a dilute magnetic semiconductor when doped with transition metal ions. Reported here are
On the band gap of CuAlO2 delafossite
In this letter, we discuss the electronic structure of copper aluminate (CuAlO2) on the basis of absorption measurements at low temperature and under high pressure in single crystals and thin films,
Electronic Structure and Optical Properties of AFeO2 (A = Ag, Cu) within GGA Calculations
The electronic structure of delafossite type oxides AFeO2 (A = Ag, Cu) has been calculated using the full potential linearized augmented plane wave (FP-LAPW) method within the local spin density
Optical Properties and Electronic Structure of Amorphous Germanium
The optical constants of amorphous Ge are determined for the photon energies from 0.08 to 1.6 eV. From 0.08 to 0.5 eV, the absorption is due to k-conserving transitions of holes between the valence
Opto-electronic properties of p- and n-type delafossite, CuFeO2
Abstract CuFeO2, doped with Mg, is a p-type semiconductor with a hole mobility of 10−5 m 2 Vs ; the electron mobility in n-type CuFeO2, doped with Sn, is 10−10 m 2 Vs . From photo-electrochemical
Band structures of delafossite transparent conductive oxides from a self-consistent GW approach
We present a comparative study of the electronic band structures of the compounds CuMO2 M=B,Al,In,Ga which belong to the family of delafossite transparent conductive oxides. The theoretical
Effects of electronic and lattice polarization on the band structure of delafossite transparent conductive oxides.
TLDR
The results support the view that the low energy structures found in optical experiments, and initially attributed to an indirect transition, are due to intrinsic defects in the samples.
