To elucidate the role of T lymphocytes in primary infection with Yersinia enterocolitica, we investigated the elimination rate of this pathogen, the histomorphology of tissue lesions, and the immune responses of athymic T-cell-deficient C57BL/6 nude mice and their euthymic littermates after parenteral infection with Y. enterocolitica of serotype O:8.
