We compute the gravitational quasinormal modes of the global AdS5-Schwarzschild solution. We show how to use the holographic dual of these modes to describe a thermal plasma of finite extent expanding in a slightly anisotropic fashion. We compare these flows with the behavior of quark-gluon plasmas produced in relativistic heavy ion collisions by estimating the elliptic flow coefficient and the thermalization time.

We analytically calculate the low-lying gravitational quasinormal modes of a topological AdS black hole of arbitrary dimension in the high temperature limit. We show that they are in agreement with

Analytic Calculation of Quasi-Normal Modes

We discuss the analytic calculation of quasi-normal modes of various types of perturbations of black holes both in asymptotically flat and in anti-de Sitter spaces. We obtain asymptotic expressions

Low frequency quasi-normal modes of AdS black holes ∗

We calculate analytically low frequency quasi-normal modes of gravitational perturbations of AdS Schwarzschild black holes in d dimensions. We arrive at analytic expressions which are in agreement

Quasinormal modes of black holes and black branes

Quasinormal modes are eigenmodes of dissipative systems. Perturbations of classical gravitational backgrounds involving black holes or branes naturally lead to quasinormal modes. The analysis and

Perturbations of Anti de Sitter Black Holes

I review perturbations of black holes in asymptotically anti de Sitter space. I show how the quasi-normal modes governing these perturbations can be calculated analytically and discuss the

On the collision of two shock waves in AdS5

We consider two ultrarelativistic shock waves propagating and colliding in five-dimensional Anti-de-Sitter spacetime. By transforming to Rosen coordinates, we are able to find the form of the metric

Holographic thermalization, quasinormal modes and superradiance in Kerr-AdS

Quasinormal modes of black holes in anti-de Sitter space: A numerical study of the eikonal limit

Using series solutions and time-domain evolutions, we probe the eikonal limit of the gravitational and scalar-field quasinormal modes of large black holes and black branes in anti-de Sitter

Low-lying gravitational modes in the scalar sector of the global AdS 4 black hole

We compute the quasinormal frequencies corresponding to the scalar sector of gravitational perturbations in the four-dimensional AdS-Schwarzschild black hole by using the master field formalism of

Thermalization and Black Holes

In the framework of AdS/CFT correspondence, we discuss how the thermalization in a Yang-Mills plasma is described by the exact solution of the time dependent black hole in the dual gravity side. We

Perturbative calculation of quasinormal modes of AdS schwarzschild black holes

We calculate analytically quasinormal modes of AdS Schwarzschild black holes including first-order corrections. We consider massive scalar, gravitational and electromagnetic perturbations. Our

Perturbative calculation of quasi-normal modes of Schwarzschild black holes

We discuss a systematic method of analytically calculating the asymptotic form of quasi-normal frequencies of a four-dimensional Schwarzschild black hole by expanding around the zeroth-order

Quasinormal modes of AdS black holes and the approach to thermal equilibrium

We investigate the decay of a scalar field outside a Schwarzschild anti de Sitter black hole. This is determined by computing the complex frequencies associated with quasinormal modes. There are

Stress tensor of a quark moving through N=4 thermal plasma

We develop the linear equations that describe graviton perturbations of AdS{sub 5}-Schwarzschild generated by a string trailing behind an external quark moving with constant velocity. Solving these

Quasinormal modes and holography

Quasinormal frequencies of electromagnetic and gravitational perturbations in asymptotically anti-de Sitter spacetime can be identified with poles of the corresponding real-time Green's functions in

A Gravity dual of RHIC collisions

In the context of the AdS/CFT correspondence we discuss the gravity dual of a heavyion-like collision in a variant of N = 4 SYM. We provide a gravity dual picture of the entire process using a model

Elliptic flow, Kasner universe and holographic dual of RHIC fireball

We consider a holographic dual of hydrodynamics of = 4 SYM plasma that undergoes non-isotropic three-dimensional expansion relevant to RHIC fireball. Our model is a natural extension of the Bjorken's

Using AdS/CFT, we compute the Fourier space proflle ofhtrF 2 i generated by a heavy quark moving through a thermal plasma of strongly coupledN = 4 super-Yang- Mills theory. We flnd evidence of

Asymptotic black hole quasinormal frequencies

We give a new derivation of the quasinormal frequencies of Schwarzschild black holes in d>=4 and Reissner-Nordstrom black holes in d=4, in the limit of infinite damping. For Schwarzschild in d>=4 we
