Preterm infants are at risk of germinal matrix haemorrhage‐intraventricular haemorrhage (GMH‐IVH) which leads to post‐haemorrhagic hydrocephalus (PHH) in 30% of infants; this is associated with moderate‐severe neurodevelopmental impairment and confers significant risk of cerebral palsy.
