We examined the prevalence and correlates of self-reported sexual arousal from exposing one's genitals to a stranger (exhibitionistic behavior) and spying on others having sex (voyeuristic behavior) in a representative national sample. In 1996, 2,450 randomly selected 18–60 year-olds from the general population of Sweden were interviewed in a broad survey of sexuality and health. A total of 76 (3.1%) respondents reported at least one incident of being sexually aroused by exposing their genitals…
Unconventional sexual behaviors and their associations with physical, mental and sexual health parameters: a study in 18 large Brazilian cities.
Unconventional sexual behavior was associated with male gender, single or separated marital status, black or mulatto race, elementary and high school educational level, history of posttraumatic stress disorder treatment, alcohol dependence, emergency contraception, difficulty at the beginning of sexual life, sexual violence, bisexuality, and performance of anal or oral intercourse.
The Prevalence of Paraphilic Interests in the Czech Population: Preference, Arousal, the Use of Pornography, Fantasy, and Behavior
The results indicate that the high prevalence of some paraphilic patterns might render their pathologization problematic and explore sex differences in an online representative sample of Czech men and women using various dimensions of sexual experience.
Understanding Men’s Self-Reported Sexual Interest in Children
Early masturbation and heightened sexual interests significantly mediated the relationship between CSA and SIC scores, and add to the small but growing body of literature examining the etiology of pedophilic sexual interests in non-clinical samples.
How unusual are the contents of paraphilias? Paraphilia-associated sexual arousal patterns in a community-based sample of men.
The findings suggest that paraphilia-related experience can not be regarded as unusual from a normative perspective and, in view of the relevance for sex life and relationship satisfaction, presence of PASAP should be assessed in all sexual medicine consultations.
The Prevalence of Paraphilic Interests and Behaviors in the General Population: A Provincial Survey
The results call into question the current definition of normal (normophilic) versus anomalous (paraphilic) sexual behaviors.
Sexual Interest in Children Among an Online Sample of Men and Women
M Males and females with any sexual interest in children reported higher likelihoods of engaging in other antisocial or criminal behaviors and also reported more dysfunctional childhoods (i.e., histories of sexual abuse, insecure parent–child attachments).
Portrait of an Exhibitionist

High Rates of Sexual Behavior in the General Population: Correlates and Predictors
Elevated rates of impersonal sex are associated with a range of negative health indicators in the general population, and the association between hypersexuality and paraphilic sexual interests was particularly strong for both genders.
Transvestic Fetishism in the General Population
A positive attitude to this sexual practice and paraphilia indicators—sexual arousal from using pain, exposing genitals to a stranger, and spying on others having sex—were particularly strong correlates to the dependent variable.
A comparative study of nonparaphilic sexual addictions and paraphilias in men.
The cormorbid presence of multiple NPSAs in 93% of the paraphilic men accompanied by comparable sexual and psychosocial sequelae suggests that NPSA may represent a culturally adapted form of psychopathology that can also be manifested as PAs.
Participation bias in a sexuality survey: psychological and behavioural characteristics of responders and non-responders.
The broad profile suggests that postal surveys of sexual attitudes and behaviour may overestimate sexual liberalism, activity and adversity, although this bias should not seriously compromise population estimates.
Health and demographic characteristics of respondents in an Australian national sexuality survey: comparison with population norms
The findings considerably strengthen inferences about the representativeness of data on health status from volunteer samples used in health and sexuality surveys.
The paraphilia-related disorders: an empirical investigation of nonparaphilic hypersexuality disorders in outpatient males.
The data suggest that social disadvantage, as assessed in this sample, is associated with the cumulative incidence of SIDs but not necessarily with the diathesis to develop paraphilic disorders.

Sexual orientation and handedness in men and women: a meta-analysis.
