A select group of investigators attended a structured workshop, the Stages of Reproductive Aging Workshop (STRAW), at Park City, Utah, USA, in July 2001, which addressed the need in women for a staging system as well as the confusing nomenclature for the reproductive years.
Executive summary of the Stages of Reproductive Aging Workshop + 10: addressing the unfinished agenda of staging reproductive aging
TLDR
STRAW + 10 provides a more comprehensive basis for assessing reproductive aging in research and clinical contexts and should improve comparability of studies of midlife women and facilitate clinical decision making.

Recommendations from a multi-study evaluation of proposed criteria for Staging Reproductive Aging
TLDR
Empirical assessment supported the STRAW recommendations that ≥60 days of amenorrhea be used to define the late menopausal transition and that early transition is consistent with a persistent 7 or more day difference in length of consecutive cycles.
The menopause transition: the next neuroendocrine frontier

This research presents a novel and scalable approach to treatments for central giant cell granuloma that aims to provide real-time information about the immune system’s response to treatment-side effects of chemotherapy.
COMMENTARY: What's the deal with menopause management?

Evidence-based care for the well woman has undergone such a radical reassessment in the last 3 years that both physicians and patients are often left confused about what steps are supported by data.
Neuroendocrinology and ovarian aging
TLDR
A review of the neuroendocrine modifications during this critical period of reproductive life may help to elucidate the ovarian aging process and its impact on reproduction.
Defining menopause status: creation of a new definition to identify the early changes of the menopausal transition
TLDR
It appears that subtle changes in bleeding pattern may be helpful in identifying the earliest hormonal changes during menopausal transition, as reflected in menstrual cycle length.
Staging reproductive aging: a comparison of proposed bleeding criteria for the menopausal transition
TLDR
A 60-day cycle may be a desirable marker for entry into the late transition stage because of its reliability, proximity to the FMP, and ease of calculation.
Staging reproductive aging using Stages of Reproductive Aging Workshop + 10 in black urban African women in the Study of Women Entering and in Endocrine Transition
TLDR
Assessment of the usefulness of the Stages of Reproductive Aging Workshop + 10 (STRAW + 10) criteria in staging ovarian aging in black South African women found it seems accurate in staging reproductive aging, as confirmed by the strong association of FSH and estradiol levels with the menopausal transition stage.
The impact and management of symptoms experienced at midlife: a community‐based study of women in northeast Scotland
