Lactobacilli strains vary in their ability to interfere with colonization of uroepithelial cells by pathogenic organisms. Bacterial size, adherence capability, competitive exclusion and inhibition of pathogenic growth were examined in selected strains of lactobacilli to assess their relative importance.
