Non-Markovian master equations describe general open quantum systems when no approximation is made. We provide the exact closed master equation for the class of Gaussian, completely positive, trace preserving, non-Markovian dynamics. This very general result allows us to investigate a vast variety of physical systems. We show that the master equation for non-Markovian quantum Brownian motion is a particular case of our general result. Furthermore, we derive the master equation unraveled by a…
Non-Markovianity of the post-Markovian master equation
An easily solvable quantum master equation has long been sought that takes into account memory effects induced on the system by the bath, i.e., non-Markovian effects. We briefly review the
Exact non-Markovian master equation for the spin-boson and Jaynes-Cummings models
We provide the exact non-Markovian master equation for a two-level system interacting with a thermal bosonic bath, and we write the solution of such a master equation in terms of the Bloch vector. We
Recursive approach for non-Markovian time-convolutionless master equations
We consider a general open system dynamics and we provide a recursive method to derive the associated non-Markovian master equation in a perturbative series. The approach relies on a momenta

Semi-classical path integral expression for a quantum system coupled to a harmonic bath is derived based on the stationary phase condition. It is discovered that the system path is non-Markovian.
Power-law tails and non-Markovian dynamics in open quantum systems: An exact solution from Keldysh field theory
The Born-Markov approximation is widely used to study dynamics of open quantum systems coupled to external baths. Using Keldysh formalism, we show that the dynamics of a system of bosons (fermions)
Stochastic unravelings of non-Markovian completely positive and trace-preserving maps
We consider open quantum systems with factorized initial states, providing the structure of the reduced system dynamics, in terms of environment cumulants. We show that such completely positive (CP)
Markovian quantum master equation beyond adiabatic regime.
A general formulation of the Markovian quantum master equation is given to go well beyond the adiabatic regime, and is well justified even if τ_{A}(t) is faster than the decay time scale of the bath correlation function.
Five approaches to exact open-system dynamics: Complete positivity, divisibility, and time-dependent observables.
It is found that the loss of semigroup-divisibility is accompanied by a prominent reentrant behavior: Counter to intuition, the level occupation may temporarily increase significantly in order to reach a stationary state with smaller occupation, implying a reversal of the measurable transport current.
Parametrization and Optimization of Gaussian Non-Markovian Unravelings for Open Quantum Dynamics.
By optimizing the squeezing parameters, the derive a family of Gaussian non-Markovian stochastic Schrödinger equations for the dynamics of open quantum systems and can tailor unravelings for improving entanglement bounds or for environment-assistedEntanglement protection.
Qubit entanglement generation by Gaussian non-Markovian dynamics
We consider two qubits interacting with a common bosonic bath, but not directly between themselves. We derive the (bipartite) entanglement generation conditions for Gaussian non-Markovian dynamical

Theory of open quantum systems
A quantum dissipation theory is constructed with the system–bath interaction being treated rigorously at the second-order cumulant level for both reduced dynamics and initial canonical boundary
