We analyze a new kinematic survey that includes accurate proper motions derived from SDSS DR7 positions, combined with multi-epoch measurements from the GSC-II database. By means of the SDSS spectro-photometric data (effective temperature, surface gravity, metallicity, and radial velocities), we estimate photometric parallaxes for a sample of 27 000 FGK (sub)dwarfs with [Fe/H] < -0.5, which we adopted as tracers of the seven-dimensional space distribution (kinematic phase distribution plus… Expand

FORMATION AND EVOLUTION OF THE DISK SYSTEM OF THE MILKY WAY: [α/Fe] RATIOS AND KINEMATICS OF THE SEGUE G-DWARF SAMPLE
We employ measurements of the [{alpha}/Fe] ratio fromlow-resolution (R {approx} 2000) spectra of 17,500 G-type dwarfs included in SDSS Data Release 8, selected using simple and well-understoodExpand
The thick disk rotation-metallicity correlation as a fossil of an “inverse chemical gradient” in the early Galaxy
Context. The thick disk rotation-metallicity correlation, ∂Vφ/∂[Fe/H] = 40 ÷ 50 km s −1 dex −1 represents an important signature of the formation processes of the galactic disk. Aims. We useExpand

Kinematics of the Galactic disc from a LAMOST dwarf sample
Based on the LAMOST survey and Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS), we use low-resolution spectra of 130,043 F/G-type dwarf stars to study the kinematics and metallicity properties of the Galactic disk.Expand

Correlations between age, kinematics, and chemistry as seen by the RAVE survey
We explore the connections between stellar age, chemistry, and kinematics across a Galactocentric distance of 7.5 < R(kpc) < 9.0, using a sample of ∼12 000 intermediate-mass (FGK) turn-off starsExpand
