The D0 Collaboration presents first evidence for the production of single top quarks at the Fermilab Tevatron pp[over ] collider. Using a 0.9 fb(-1) dataset, we apply a multivariate analysis to separate signal from background and measure sigma(pp[over ]-->tb+X,tqb+X)=4.9+/-1.4 pb. The probability to measure a cross section at this value or higher in the absence of a signal is 0.035%, corresponding to a 3.4 standard deviation significance. We use the cross section measurement to directly… Expand
Evidence for single top quark production at D0
We present evidence for the production of single top quarks at the Fermilab Tevatron p collider. Using a 0.9 fb-1 dataset collected with D0 detector, the analysis is performed in the electron+jetsExpand
Observation of single top-quark production.
We report observation of the electroweak production of single top quarks in pp[over ] collisions at sqrt[s]=1.96 TeV based on 2.3 fb(-1) of data collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab TevatronExpand
Evidence for electroweak top quark production in proton-antiproton collisions at √s = 1.96 TeV
We present the first evidence for electroweak single top quark production using nearly 1 fb{sup -1} of Tevatron Run II data at {radical}s = 1.96 TeV. We select single-top-like data events in theExpand
Measurement of the t-channel single top quark production cross section
The D0 collaboration reports direct evidence for electroweak production of single top quarks through the t-channel exchange of a virtual W boson. This is the first analysis to isolate an individualExpand
Observation of Single Top Quark Production at the Tevatron
This paper reports on the first observation of electroweak production of single top quarks by the D0 and CDF collaborations. At Fermilab's 1.96 TeV proton-antiproton collider, a few thousand eventsExpand
Measurement of single top quark production at D0 Using a matrix element method
Until now, the top quark has only been observed produced in pairs, by the strong force. According to the standard model, it can also be produced singly, via an electroweak interaction. Top quarksExpand
Measurement of CKM matrix elements in single top quark t-channel production in proton-proton collisions at s=13 TeV
Abstract The first direct, model-independent measurement is presented of the modulus of the Cabibbo–Kobayashi–Maskawa (CKM) matrix elements | η | V t b , | η | V t d , and | η | V t s , in finalExpand
From bottom to top: Identification to precision measurement of 3rd-generation quarks with the atlas detector
The 3rd-generation quarks, bottom (b) and top (t), are recent additions to the Standard Model of particle physics, and precise characterization of their properties have important implications toExpand
Observation of Single Top Quark Production at D0
This paper presents the observation of the electroweak production of single top quarks in the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron pp Collider at a center‐of‐mass energy of 1.96 TeV. EventsExpand
Improved Search for Single Top Quark Production Using The Matrix Element Analysis Technique in 0 . 9 fb − 1 of Data The DØ Collaboration
  • 2007
We present an improved search for single top quarks using the matrix element analysis technique at D0 using 0.9 fb of Run II data. It builds on the work presented in Ref. [1]. From a comparison ofExpand

Search for single top quark production in pp@? collisions at s=1.96 TeV [rapid communication]
We present a search for electroweak production of single top quarks in the s-channel and t-channel using neural networks for signal–background separation. We have analyzed 230 pb−1 of data collectedExpand

How to test the standard-model QCD predictions for the transverse polarization of a top quark produced at the Fermilab Tevatron, Superconducting Super Collider, CERN Large Hadron Collider, and the Next Linear Collider is shown. Expand
Single top quarks at the Fermilab Tevatron
We present a calculation of the single top quark cross section for proton-antiproton interactions with {radical}(s)=1.8TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. We examine the effects of the top quarkExpand
Optimized search for single-top-quark production at the Fermilab Tevatron
We use a neural-network technique to search for standard model single-top-quark production in the 106 pb(-1) dataset accumulated by the Collider Detector at Fermilab detector during the 1992-1995Expand
