Evidence for oscillation of atmospheric neutrinos

title={Evidence for oscillation of atmospheric neutrinos},
  author={The Super-Kamiokande Collaboration and Y. Fukuda et al},
We present an analysis of atmospheric neutrino data from a 33.0 kiloton-year (535-day) exposure of the Super–Kamiokande detector. The data exhibit a zenith angle dependent deficit of muon neutrinos which is inconsistent with expectations based on calculations of the atmospheric neutrino flux. Experimental biases and uncertainties in the prediction of neutrino fluxes and cross sections are unable to explain our observation. The data are consistent, however, with two-flavor ν µ ↔ ν τ oscillations…

Measuring the atmospheric neutrino oscillation parameters and constraining the 3+1 neutrino model with ten years of ANTARES data

A bstractThe ANTARES neutrino telescope has an energy threshold of a few tens of GeV. This allows to study the phenomenon of atmospheric muon neutrino disappearance due to neutrino oscillations. In a

Problems with Atmospheric Neutrino Oscillations

The neutrino oscillation hypothesis does a poor job of representing the atmospheric neutrino anomaly. The anomaly is observed over 4 decades in path length and at least a factor of 30 in energy. This

The Atmospheric Neutrino Anomaly: Muon Neutrino Disappearance

With the 1998 announcement of new evidence for muon neutrino disappearance observed by the SuperKamiokande experiment [5.30], the more than a decade old atmospheric neutrino anomaly moved from a

Semi-contained interactions of atmospheric neutrinos in the MACRO detector

Atmospheric neutrinos arise from the decay of particles (primarily pions, muons and kaons) produced in the collision of high energy cosmic ray particles with the atmosphere. The great distances

Test of Lorentz invariance with atmospheric neutrinos

A search for neutrino oscillations induced by Lorentz violation has been performed using 4,438 live-days of Super-Kamiokande atmospheric neutrino data. The Lorentz violation is included in addition

A note on neutrino oscillations, or why MiniBooNE and MicroBooNE data are compatible

The theoretical scenario introduced in Ref [1] implies a new approach to flavour mixing, and neutrino oscillations. It not only predicts non-vanishing neutrino masses, but also uniquely determines

Neutrino oscillation parameters in MINOS

We present results of measurements of atmospheric neutrino oscillation parameters performed by the MINOS experiment. The experiment uses an intense Main Injector neutrino beam at Fermilab and two

Direct probes of neutrino mass

Cosmological Implications of Massive Neutrinos

The atmospheric neutrino results reported by the Super-Kamiokande [1] and MACRO [2, 3] experiments indicate that neutrinos oscillate, these data being consistent with V μ ↔ v τ oscillations. The
