The cardiovascular role of serotonin (5-HT) containing neurons in the midline medullary raphe nuclei was studied in anesthetized cats. High frequency electrical stimulation of nucleus (n.) raphe (r.) pallidus, n.r. obscurus and n.r. magnus produced both pressor and depressor responses.
