From 1999 to 2003, a trial was conducted of three Japanese cultivars of Asian pear (Pyrus serotina Rehder) in terms of growth, yield and fruit quality. The cultivars evaluated were 'Shinseiki', 'Chojuro', and 'Hosui'. 'Conference' (P. communis L.) was used as a reference cultivar. All cultivars were grafted on Pyrus communis var. caucasica Fed. seedling rootstock. In the spring of 1999, one-year-old trees were planted 4.0 x 2.5 meters apart in sandy, grey-brown, podsolic loam. 'Hosui' and…

Evaluation of several Asian pear cultivars in the climatic conditions of Lower Silesia

TLDR
Evaluating the growth intensity and yielding of several Asian pear tree cultivars found that ‘Chojuro’ and ‘Shinseiki’ performed best, while the least fruits were obtained from the ‘Nijisseiki” cultivar.

Evaluation of Pollen Quality and Self-Fertility in Selected Cultivars of Asian and European Pears

TLDR
The results clearly showed that none of the Asian cultivars are self-fertile, and they require a pollen – donor to produce fruits.

Do the Rootstocks Determine Tree Growth, Productivity and Fruit Quality of Pears, which Grow on Typical Heavy and Acidic Soil?

TLDR
Investigating the impact of quinces MA and BA on tree growth, precocity, yield, fruit quality and leaf nutrients content 60 days after full bloom (DAFB) of ‘Starking Delicious’, ‘Abbé Fetel‘, and ‘Conference’ pear cultivars showed that rootstocks significantly influenced a small number of features which were evaluated.

Maturitytime for some local and introduced pear cultivars in Sweida governorate depending on some environmental, physical and chemical characters

Maturity date was set for some introduced pear cultivars in Sweida governorate Coscia, Comice, Anjou and the local pear cultivar Meskawi depending on full bloom date, days after full bloom, quantity

Fruit Quality and Storability of Some Asian Pear Cultivars Collected in the Gene Bank of the Research Institute of Horticulture, Central Poland

TLDR
All of the evaluated cultivars can be stored for 10 weeks at 0 °C in regular atmosphere without major negative impact on their quality characteristics and showed a slight (sometimes significant) decrease in FF after storage and a slight or no changes in TSS and TA.
