The purpose of this research is to select the best features to have a high rate of motion classification for controlling an artificial hand. Here, 19 EMG signal features have been taken into account. Some of the features suggested in this study include combining wavelet transform with other signal processing techniques. An assessment is performed with respect to three points of view: (i) classification of motions, (ii) noise tolerance and (iii) calculation complexity. The energy of wavelet…

Electromyogram (EMG) based fingers movement recognition using sparse filtering of wavelet packet coefficients

This work proposes an accurate and novel scheme for feature set extraction and projection based on Sparse Filtering of wavelet packet coefficients which can classify a large number of single and multiple finger movements accurately with reduced hardware complexity.

Hand movements classification for myoelectric control system using adaptive resonance theory

Comparative results indicate that the proposed hybrid classifier not only has good classification accuracy but also a significantly improved computation time.

Kernel Density Estimation of Electromyographic Signals and Ensemble Learning for Highly Accurate Classification of a Large Set of Hand/Wrist Motions

Three new sEMG features based on the kernel density estimation, which were tested for the classification of single tasks as well as of two tasks concurrently performed, are promising for conventional and simultaneous myoelectric control.

Hybrid Brain Computer Interface for Movement Control of Upper Limb Prostheses

A new hybrid BCI model that integrates EEG and EMG signal processing with machine learning models to efficiently improve classification accuracy and increase the control performance of different upper limb movements for above elbow amputees is introduced.

Real-time muscle fatigue monitoring based on median frequency of electromyography signal

This paper presents method and algorithm to determine fatigue of muscle during doing some exercise which can be used for real-time monitoring post-stroke rehabilitation patient by using Electromyography (EMG).

Microphone Mechanomyography Sensors for Movement Analysis and Identification

This work shows that MMG combined with data from an inertial measurement unit (IMU) in a novel sensing suite can be used in monitoring muscle activity during common gait activities and MMGIMU sensor fusion was shown to be well suited for classification of daily movement using Support Vector Machines.

Study of the relevance of gender in the classification of hand gestures by electromyography-based recognition systems

The results show that EMG armband on the forearm can be a good option for robotic systems control without the need for prior gender adjustment and there was no significant difference observed between the data from different genders.
