Psychological interventions can have contributes through improving physical, mental and social states in promoting quality of mother’s life quality of children with mental retardation. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of stress management training on the quality of mother’s life quality of children with mental retardation. The present study was on experimental method with post-test and control group . Samples consisted of 30 mothers of children with mental retardation who were selected randomly and divided two experimental group (n=15) and control group (n=15). For data collection in post-test, were used the Quality of Life Questionnaire health-related (short form) (SF36) that completed by the individuals. Cognitivebehavioral therapy for stress management implemented on the experimental group for 10 sessions and data were analyzed via MANOVA tests. The results revealed a significant difference between experimental group and control group (P<0.05). Therefore the impact of stress management training on the mother’s life quality in experimental group has been confirmed. According to present study results, the uses of stress management training were recommended to improvement mother’s life quality of children with mental retardation.
