BACKGROUND The Revised National TB Control Program bases diagnosis of tuberculosis (TB) on sputum smear examination and response to a course of antibiotics, whereas World Health Organization recommends early chest radiography [chest x-ray (CXR)] for HIV-infected symptomatic patients.
