This study evaluated some haematological parameters among post-menopausal women in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state, Nigeria. Sixty two post-menopausal women within the age of 52 –70 and forty adult females within the age of 18 – 32 participated in this study. About 5ml of blood was collected from each participant and analyzed using Westergren method for erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and automated haematology analyser (System XS-1000i) for packed cell volume (PCV), haemoglobin (Hb), total white…

EVALUATION OF HAEMATOLOGICAL PARAMETERS AMONG TRIBAL MENOPAUSAL WOMEN IN EASTERN INDIA
TLDR
The results suggest that anaemic condition is not prevalent in menopausal women, however, rise of neutrophil and basophil count is indicative of having underlying infections.
Evaluation of Total White Blood Cells and Cluster of Differentiation 4 Cells among Post-Menopausal Women in Elele, Nigeria
TLDR
The results in the test subjects for both parameters were significantly lower compared to the control, suggesting that the decline in immune system related parameters among the test Subjects may predispose them at risk of multiple infections and other associated health conditions.
Assessment of Some Haemostasis System BloodIndicators among the Elderly Attending a tertiaryHealth Institution in Nigeria
TLDR
The pro-thrombin time, activated partial thromboplastin time showed a significant increase while blood platelets showed significant decline with ageing, which suggests possible by functioning with “ dysfunctioning of the haemostatic system.
Assessment of Some Immune System Related Parameters on Helicobacter pylori Infected Students in a Nigerian Tertiary Educational Institution
TLDR
The significant increase in total white blood cells among the test subjects is a result of an immune response to an active infection and subsequent neutrophilia elicited by inflammation which is a major consequence of Helicobacter pylori infection.
Prothrombin Time Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time and Platelets Count among Hypertensive Patients Attending a Tertiary Health Institution in Yenagoa, Nigeria
TLDR
There is need for early diagnosis to avoid hemostatic complications and to aid effective management of the patients, as there were significant variations between the hypertensive and control subjects for each of the parameters.
Evaluation of Some Haematological Parameters Among Helicobacter pylori infected students in a Nigerian tertiary educational institution
TLDR
A large number of the patients admitted to the Yenagoa Medical Centre had no known history of blood transfusion problems, so it is likely that these patients were referred to the centre by mistake.
Assessment of some haemostatic parameters at different stages of pregnancy
TLDR
It is indicated that anaemia during pregnancy is a contributing factor to low birth weight, maternal mortality and premature birth.
Challenges Facing during Pregnancy and Measures to Overcome
TLDR
Pregnancy issues such as gestational diabetes mellitus, hypertension, preeclampsia, caesarean birth, and postpartum weight retention are all more likely in overweight and obese women.

A Study of Some Red Cell Indices in Menopausal Women in Zaria, Nigeria
TLDR
Menopausal women were found to have lower red cell indices with a predisposition for developing anaemia and recommend further studies to assess serum levels of vitamin B12 and folic acid in menopausal women.
Evaluation of Some Haematological Parameters Among Marijuana Smokers In Yenagoa, Nigeria.
TLDR
It is shown that marijuana usage results in marked differences in some haematological parameters which may lead to inflammation, reduced immunity and ability to fight infections by the users.
Evaluation of Some Haematological Parameters Among Pregnant Ijaw Women: An Indigenous West African Tribe.
TLDR
A normal reference range has been established for pregnant women of Ijaw transient so as to enhance proper assessment and management of antenatal cases.
Effect of aging on various haematological parameters
TLDR
Non significant changes of haematological parameters in females might have some hormonal correlation and poor nutrition resulting in vitamin B 12 and folic acid deficiency in old age might be the cause of early haematography changes and early aging.
Impact of Acute Malaria on Some Haematological Parameters in A Semi-Urban Community in Southwestern Nigeria
TLDR
To investigate the effect of acute malaria on some haematological indices, a sample of 5 ml of venous blood was drawn from each of 671 adults with acute malarial infection and 523 apparently healthy subjects in Iwo, Southwestern Nigeria, for examination of a full blood count.
Impact of menopausal symptoms on quality of life among women's in Qena city
TLDR
It can be concluded that post-menopausal women in this study had severe menopausal symptoms and this had adversely affected on quality of life.
MATERNAL HAEMATOLOGICAL AND BIOCHEMICAL PARAMETERS AND PREGNANCY OUTCOME
TLDR
Of the investigated mother parameters, haemoglobin showed positive correlations with newborn length while total protein showed negative correlation with weight as well as glucose, total proteins, albumin, triglycerides and cholesterol levels.
Age and menopause affect the expression of specific cytokines/chemokines in plasma and cervical lavage samples from female sex workers in Nairobi, Kenya
TLDR
This study demonstrates that aging and menopause-associated hormonal changes are associated with significant changes in systemic and mucosal cytokine/chemokine expression, which may have implications for the age-related decline in the ability to fight against infections.
Cardiovascular disease and menopause.
TLDR
Cardiovascular disease was more common in postmenopausal women of age group 40-55 years as compared to those not yet achieved menopause in a population of western Indian women, and this risk was significantly associated with central obesity, an abnormal lipid profile and the post menopausal state.
Atherogenic index of plasma and risk of cardiovascular disease among Cameroonian postmenopausal women
TLDR
AIP may not be an independent factor impacting the risk of CVD among Cameroonian postmenopausal women, and more studies are needed to better elucidate the interaction between AIP and risk ofCVD in this setting.
