The study on evaluatation of salinity problem in swell-shrink soils (Vertisols) of the Puma valley in Amravati district was undertaken. The non-irrigated soils have mild alkalinity (pH 8.5 to 8.9), very low exchangeable sodium percentage (ESP) and low electrical conductivity of the saturation extract (ECe , 15) has been noticed in the subsoil horizons.
