Pomegranate is a native Persian fruit that is grown around the world; the present study is the report of the research on different extracts of different polarity from flowers regarding their antioxidant activity. Punica granatum L. var. Isfahan Malas flowers were extracted with petroleum ether. The dried petroleum extract was suspended in ethanol %80 and successively partitioned with n-butanol. The total phenolic, flavonoid content and antioxidant capability of different extracts of Punica…
Total phenolic content, ferric reducing and DPPH scavenging activity of Arum dioscoridis
TLDR
In vitro antioxidant activities and total phenolic and flavonoid contents of different extracts of A. dioscoridis, a wild plant the leaves of which have been used as vegetable and for preparing special soup which has a sour taste were determined.
Antioxidant Activities of Pomegranate Peels and Leave Crude Juices on Sunflower Oil Oxidative Rancidity
The leave and peels of pomegranate plant, wonderful variety, were mechanically pressed to obtain crude juices. The latter materials were subjected for the determination of total polyphenols and
Phenolic contentand allelopathic potential of leavesand rhizosphere soilaqueous extracts of white horehound ( Maribum vulgare L.)
TLDR
Both leaf aqueous extracts and soil of tested species could be used as natural herbicides and the inhibition caused by the leaf and soil extracts was found to be more than shoot length.
Allelopathic and Antimicrobial Activities of Leaf Aqueous and MethanolicExtracts of Verbena officinalis L. and Aloysia citrodora L. (Verbenaceae):A comparative study.
TLDR
The findings suggest that the aqueous and methanol extracts of the plants tested contain compounds with allelopathic and antimicrobial properties and propose that such plant extracts can possibly be used as natural preservatives in the food and pharmaceutical industries.
Variation of ursolic acid content in flowers of ten Iranian pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) cultivars
TLDR
UA values obtained from Iranian cultivars of pomegranate flowers are very significant when compared with other sources of UA, and suggested that the Iranian pome granate flowers might be an excellent UA rich source.
Phenolic profile and antioxidant activity of thermally processed sponge gourd (Luffa cylindrica) as studied by using high performance thin layer chromatography (HPTLC)
ABSTRACT The effect of different extracting solvents (methanol, ethanol and butanol) and cooking treatments such as pressure cooking, microwave cooking and frying was studied in regards to phenolic
FTIR analysis and quantification of phenols and flavonoids of five commercially available plants extracts used in wound healing
Natural products are used in wound healing in order to prevent infection. Propolis is a well known antimicrobial with phenolic compounds and flavonoid content which vary according to the propolis
Flower Extracts as Multifunctional Dyes in the Cosmetics Industry
Flowers are a natural source of bioactive compounds that not only have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-aging properties, but can also be used as natural dyes. For this reason, nowadays
Antioxidant activity of Iranian barley grain cultivars and their malts
Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) belongs to the grass family Poaceae and is an ancient and important cereal grain crop. Whole grain products are recommended for healthy diets as being recognized sources
Pharmacological profile of the aerial parts of Rubus ulmifolius Schott
TLDR
It is confirmed that aerial parts of Rubus ulmifolius contain flavonoids that are safe up to 6 g/kg following oral doses for acute toxicity study and have significant antioxidant and antipyretic activity.

Antioxidant activity of plant extracts containing phenolic compounds.
TLDR
High activities were found in tree materials, especially in willow bark, spruce needles, pine bark and cork, and birch phloem, and in some medicinal plants including heather, bog-rosemary, willow herb, and meadowsweet and potato peel and beetroot peel extracts showed strong antioxidant effects.
Antioxidant activity of pomegranate juice and its relationship with phenolic composition and processing.
TLDR
HPLC-DAD and HPLC-MS analyses of the juices revealed that commercial juices contained the pomegranate tannin punicalagin while only traces of this compound were detected in the experimental juice obtained from arils in the laboratory, which shows that pomesgranate industrial processing extracts some of the hydrolyzable tannins present in the fruit rind.
Antioxidant Activity and Total Phenolics in Selected Fruits, Vegetables, and Grain Products
The antioxidant activities and total phenolics of 28 plant products, including sunflower seeds, flaxseeds, wheat germ, buckwheat, and several fruits, vegetables, and medicinal plants were determined.
Absorption, metabolism, and antioxidant effects of pomegranate (Punica granatum l.) polyphenols after ingestion of a standardized extract in healthy human volunteers.
TLDR
Overall, this study demonstrated the absorbability of EA from a pomegranate extract high in ellagitannin content and its ex vivo antioxidant effects.
Inhibitory Effect of an Ellagic Acid-Rich Pomegranate Extract on Tyrosinase Activity and Ultraviolet-Induced Pigmentation
TLDR
The results suggest that the skin-whitening effect of PE was probably due to inhibition of the proliferation of melanocytes and melanin synthesis by tyrosinase in melanocytes.
