Cut leaves of Philodendron sp. (philodendron plu jeeb) are often used in bouquets and flower arrangements. Keeping quality is a key criterion for assessing the value of a cut leaf, by growers, traders, and consumers alike. This study set out to determine the influence of the essential oils of Eucalyptus globulus Labill. (eucalyptus) and Cymbopogon nardus Rendle (citronella) on the vase life of cut leaves of the philodendron plu jeeb. Vase life was assessed in terms of relative fresh weight… Expand

Effect of some essential oils on postharvest quality and vase life of gerbera cut flowers (gerbera jamesonii cv. Sorbet )
TLDR
Results revealed that pulse treatment of Thymus vulgaris and cuminum cyminum 100 mg/l concentration along with sucrose 3% significantly increases solution uptake and quality of cut flowers and the rate activity of catalase and super oxide dismutase enzymes showed decrease at lower rate. Expand
Effect of ethanol and essential oils on extending vase-life of carnation cut flower (Dianthus caryophyllus cv. 'Yellow Candy').
TLDR
It is concluded that essential oils, (natural, safe and biodegradable compounds) as novel alternative materials are suitable for prolongation of carnation vase-life. Expand
EFFECT OF ETHANOL, METHANOL AND ESSENTIAL OILS AS NOVEL AGENTS TO IMPROVE VASE-LIFE OFALSTROEMERIA FLOWERS
The production of Alstroemeria flowers has been rapidly increasing in the world. In this research effect of different concentrations of ethanol (4, 7, 10%) methanol (4, 7, 10%) as pulse treatmentsExpand
Effect of Antibiotics and Essential Oils on Postharvest Life and Quality Characteristics of Chrysanthemum Cut Flower
TLDR
Comparisons revealed that 30% of Artemisia oil, 200 mg l -1 amoxicillin and 200 mg -1 rifampin caused the longest vase life, the highest preservative solution uptake and petal's soluble protein contents, leaf chlorophyll and maximum fresh weight. Expand
SENESCENCE OF CUT LEAVES OF Zantedeschia aethiopica AND Z. elliottiana. PART I. CHLOROPHYLL DEGRADATION
TLDR
Gibberellic acid was more effective than benzyladenine in delaying senescence of both Zantedeschia species leaves by retarding chlorophyll loss, but in both species the preservative diminished the positive effect of GA3 treatment on final chlorophyLL content. Expand
In vitro and in vivo activity of essential oils against major postharvest pathogens of Kinnow (Citrus nobilis × C. deliciosa) mandarin
TLDR
It is evident from studies that essential oils have the potential to control green and blue mold without causing any injury or harmful effects on Kinnow mandarin, and EOs can be recommended as a safe method for extending its storage life while maintaining fruit quality. Expand
POTENTIAL OF INCREASING THE VASE LIFE AND IMPROVEMENT OF SOME PHYSIOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF ALSTROEMERIA CUT FLOWERS BY USING NON-HARMFUL COMPOUNDS ENVIRONMENTALLY
In this study, the concentrations of 25, 375 and 500 ml L -1 of Cola+ 2000 mg L -1 of peppermint essence and concentrations of 30, 45 and 60 ml L -1 of apple extract +2000 mg L -1 rosemary essence onExpand
Essential oil vapours suppress the development of anthracnose and enhance defence related and antioxidant enzyme activities in avocado fruit
TLDR
Postharvest thyme oil treatment has positive effects on reducing anthracnose in avocados, and the activities of defence enzymes including chitinase, 1, 3-β-glucanase, phenylalanine ammonia-lyase and peroxidase were enhanced and the level of total phenolics in thymeOil treated fruit was higher than that in untreated (control) fruit. Characterization and antioxidant activity of essential oils from fresh and decaying leaves of Eucalyptus tereticornis.
TLDR
The study concluded that fresh and decaying leaves of E. tereticornis are a source of monoterpenoid rich oil exhibiting antioxidant activity. Expand
Evaluation of postharvest storage and treatments in cut ruscus foliage
Danae racemosa (L.) Moench is an important cut foliage in the ornamental market. During postharvest, leaf senescence symptoms are leaf yellowing, weight loss and/or abscission of leaves. The aim ofExpand
