TEAD1 regulates several muscle genes and plays a role in proliferation. TEAD1 is known to regulate the MMTV activity. TEAD1 mutated forms have been identified in eye diseases. Scalloped (SD) (TEAD1 homolog), is involved in cell survival and growth. SD interacts physically with Yorkie (YKI). YKI (YAP in mammals) is the effector of a signaling pathway acting as a tumor suppressor called Hippo.
