The first case of epidemic hemorrhagic fever in Japan was seen in Osaka in 1960. The etiologic agent of this disease has not yet been isolated, but a close etiologic relation between Korean hemorrhagic fever and epidemic hemorrhagic fever in Japan has been suspected because of similarities in the clinical and pathological pictures of the two diseases.
