A comparative study on polyphenol extraction from sunflower press cake in a semicontinuous pulsed-flow immersion extractor and in a conventional laboratory immersion extractor was developed. The solvent was 96% (vol/vol) ethanol. No difference in the residual polyphenol content in the cake was observed at short times, but after 10 h, the pulsed extractor showed a higher polyphenol concentration in the outlet miscella. In addition, the effective diffusivity of polyphenols in sunflower press cake…
Ethanolic extraction of sunflower oil in a pulsing extractor
Oil extraction by ethanol from partially defatted prepressed sunflower seeds in pulsed and nonpulsed extractors was compared. The oil yield was increased by 8.7% after short extraction periods (up to
POLYPHENOLS FROM PLANT MATERIALS : EXTRACTION AND ANTIOXIDANT POWER
Experimental results on the extraction of several agricultural byproducts using conventional solvents are presented and discussed. The effects of the main process variables (including solvent
Extraction of sunflower oil using ethanol as solvent
Abstract The ethanolic extraction of oil from sunflower collets was studied and compared with previous data where hexane was used as extraction solvent. First, the extractive power of ethanol was
Effect of bubbling nitrogen and pulsed flow on the antiradical activity of grape residues
Abstract The efficiency of liquid–solid extraction of phenols from natural products was enhanced by effect of coupling certain arrangements with the conventional extraction process (control). In
Effect of the type and level of hydration of alcoholic solvents on the simultaneous extraction of oil and chlorogenic acids from sunflower seed press cake.
TLDR
Alcoholic solvents can be used for extraction to produce sunflower seed oil containing minor compounds that give it greater oxidative stability, and the results obtained using hydrous ethanol showed that this solvent can yield defattedSunflower seed meal with a low content of CAs, enabling future use of the protein fraction.
Processing of Rosa rubiginosa: extraction of oil and antioxidant substances.
TLDR
Results noteworthy depended on the solvent used to extract; whilst an approximately 80% DPPH inhibition percentage was reached in ethanol extracts, values of 52.2% or 41% were found in methanol and aqueous extracts, respectively, and antioxidant capacity of Rosa rubiginosa extracts was much higher than that reported for other agricultural matrixes.
Diffusion of tocopherols, phospholipids and sugars during oil extraction from sunflower collets using ethanol as solvent
Abstract The ethanolic extraction of minor compounds (phospholipids, tocopherols and sugars) present in sunflower collets was studied at 50 and 60 °C in a batch reactor. The extracted material
Conventional and pressurized ethanolic extraction of oil from spent coffee grounds: Kinetics study and evaluation of lipid and defatted solid fractions
Abstract Extraction kinetics of spent coffee grounds (SCG) soluble in absolute (ET0) and hydrous ethanol (ET6) in the temperature range of 60–150 ℃, under atmospheric and pressurized conditions, are
Mass transfer during continuous solid–liquid extraction of antioxidants from grape byproducts
Abstract In this work, a study about the conditions that maximize the phenol yields and the antioxidant capacity of extracts from grape byproducts obtained by continuous extraction is undertaken.
Optimization of the Extraction of Sorghum's Polyphenols for Industrial Production by Membrane Processes
For a large-scale production of sorghum’s polyphenols for food and medicine by membrane processes, different extraction parameters (temperature, duration and nature of solvent) were optimized. For a
