So far, no consistent conclusions can be drawn regarding the acute effects of ethanol on receptor-stimulated phosphoinositide hydrolysis. Several authors have reported reduced formation of inositol phosphates (IP) in [3H]-labelled rat brain slices (3,6,7) but negative results have also been published (13). It seems that the choice of receptor and tissue to be studied is of importance for the final outcome of this type of investigation.
