Abstract The alkali with divalent cation -barium hydroxide- was used for the etching of Xe ions in poly-ethyleneterephthaalate (PEPT) films. The results were compared with the data obtained with the use of sodium hydroxide (1-1 electrolyte) and sodium and potassium carbonates (1–2 electrolytes) as etchants. It was found that the surface etch rate is dramatically higher in the case of barium hydroxide, 2-1 electrolyte, presumbly due to the changes in the boundary layer structure at the polymer… CONTINUE READING
