In this paper, we consider a single-index mixed model with longitudinal data. A new set of estimating equations is proposed to estimate the single-index coefficient. The link function is estimated by using the local linear smoothing. Asymptotic normality is established for the proposed estimators. Also, the estimator of the link function achieves optimal convergence rates; and the estimators of variance components have root-$n$ consistency. These results facilitate the construction of… Expand

Penalized quadratic inference functions for single-index models with longitudinal data
TLDR
A procedure to estimate the single-index component and the unknown link function based on the combination of the penalized splines and quadratic inference functions and it is shown that the proposed estimation method has good asymptotic properties. Expand
Optimal smoothing in nonparametric mixed-effect models
Mixed-effect models are widely used for the analysis of correlated data such as longitudinal data and repeated measures. In this article, we study an approach to the nonparametric estimation ofExpand
Longitudinal data analysis using generalized linear models
SUMMARY This paper proposes an extension of generalized linear models to the analysis of longitudinal data. We introduce a class of estimating equations that give consistent estimates of theExpand
Semiparametric Stochastic Mixed Models for Longitudinal Data
Abstract We consider inference for a semiparametric stochastic mixed model for longitudinal data. This model uses parametric fixed effects to represent the covariate effects and an arbitrary smoothExpand
Nonparametric Function Estimation for Clustered Data When the Predictor is Measured without/with Error
Abstract We consider local polynomial kernel regression with a single covariate for clustered data using estimating equations. We assume that at most m < ∞ observations are available on each cluster.Expand
Robust estimating functions and bias correction for longitudinal data analysis.
TLDR
This work proposes a distribution-free method for correcting the bias in the Pearson residuals, which means that parameter estimators from the robust approach are asymptotically biased when error distributions are not symmetric. Expand
On Single-Index Coefficient Regression Models
Abstract In this article we investigate a class of single-index coefficient regression models under dependence. This includes many existing models, such as the smooth transition thresholdExpand
Local Polynomial Mixed-Effects Models for Longitudinal Data
We consider a nonparametric mixed-effects model yi(tij)=η(tij)+vi(tij)+ϵi(tij),j=1,2,…,ni;i=1,2,…,n for longitudinal data. We propose combining local polynomial kernel regression and linearExpand
SEMIPARAMETRIC LEAST SQUARES (SLS) AND WEIGHTED SLS ESTIMATION OF SINGLE-INDEX MODELS
Abstract For the class of single-index models, I construct a semiparametric estimator of coefficients up to a multiplicative constant that exhibits 1 √ n -consistency and asymptotic normality. ThisExpand
Direct estimation of the index coefficient in a single-index model
Single-index modeling is widely applied in, for example, econometric studies as a compromise between too restrictive parametric models and flexible but hardly estimable purely nonparametric models.Expand
