C r o p residues, the portion of the crop left in the field after harvest, can be an important management factor in controlling soil erosion. Current methods for quant~jing crop residue cover use tedious manual sampling methocLs' or visual comparisons with photographs. There is a need for new methods to quant~j residue cover that are rapid, accurate, and objective.
