We use cosmological hydrodynamical simulations to study the effect of screened modified gravity models on the mass estimates of galaxy clusters. In particular, we focus on two novel aspects: (i) we study modified gravity models in which baryons and dark matter are coupled with different strengths to the scalar field, and; (ii) we put the simulation results into the greater context of a general screened-modified gravity parametrization. We have compared the mass of clusters inferred via lensing… Expand

Probing modified gravity via the mass-temperature relation of galaxy clusters
We propose that the mass-temperature relation of galaxy clusters is a prime candidate for testing gravity theories beyond Einstein's general relativity, for modified gravity models with universalExpand
A general framework to test gravity using galaxy clusters I : modelling the dynamical mass of haloes in f(R) gravity.
We propose a new framework for testing gravity using cluster observations, which aims to provide an unbiased constraint on modified gravity models from Sunyaev Zel’dovich (SZ) and X-ray clusterExpand
Probing screened modified gravity with nonlinear structure formation
We review the effects of modified gravity theories, in particular the symmetron and f(R) gravity, on the nonlinear regime of structure formation. In particular, we investigate the velocity dispersionExpand
Stellar kinematics from the symmetron fifth force in the Milky Way disk
It has been shown that the presence of non-minimally coupled scalar fields giving rise to a fifth force can noticeably alter dynamics on galactic scales. Such a fifth force must be screened in theExpand
A general framework to test gravity using galaxy clusters II : a universal model for the halo concentration in f(R) gravity.
We present a novel fitting formula for the halo concentration enhancement in chameleon f(R) gravity relative to General Relativity (GR). The formula is derived by employing a large set of N-bodyExpand
Tests of Gravity with Galaxy Clusters
Changes in the law of gravity have far-reaching implications for the formation and evolution of galaxy clusters, and appear as peculiar signatures in their mass-observable relations, structuralExpand

Cluster abundance in f(R) gravity models
As one of the most powerful probes of cosmological structure formation, the abundance of massive galaxy clusters is a sensitive probe of modifications to gravity on cosmological scales. In thisExpand

Universal predictions of screened modified gravity on cluster scales
Modified gravity models require a screening mechanism to be able to evade the stringent constraints from local gravity experiments and, at the same time, give rise to observable astrophysical andExpand

Gravitational redshift profiles in the f(R) and symmetron models
Aims. We investigate the gravitational redshift in clusters of galaxies in the symmetron and Hu-Sawicky f (R) models. The characteristic feature of both models is the screening mechanism that hidesExpand
