}This study sought to establish anin vitro lactating BMEC (bovine mammary epithelial cell) model, which may maintain the native function for a period of time. Mammary tissues of midlactation Holstein dairy cows were dispersed and cultured in a medium containing insulin, prolactin, hydrocortisone, transferrin, epidermal growth factor and fetal calf serum. After the cells migrating from the tissue reached ∼80% of confluency, the tissues were removed, and secretory epithelial cells were enriched by…

Results showed that DGMECs could secrete lactose and β-casein and had no obvious change after 48 h treated by insulin, while prolactin could obviously raise the secretion of milk proteins and lactose.
Establishment of an in vitro culture model to study milk production and the blood-milk barrier with bovine mammary epithelial cells.

Findings indicate that this model has clear cell polarity as well as in vivo and is effective to study of milk production and the blood-milk barrier in lactating BMECs.
Development and validation of immortalized bovine mammary epithelial cell line as an in vitro model for the study of mammary gland functions

The results demonstrate that the established hTBME cell line was able to retain functional-morphological structure, and functional differentiation by expression of beta (β)-casein as in the bovine mammary gland in vivo, and suggest that it can serve as a valuable tool for the study of bovines Mammary gland functions.
Establishment and Characterization of a Buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) Mammary Epithelial Cell Line

A buffalo mammary epithelial cell line that can be used as a model system for studying mammary gland functions is established and characterized for mammary specific functions by immunocytochemistry, RT-PCR and western blot.
Relative quantification of beta-casein expression in primary goat mammary epithelial cell lines.
- Biology, MedicineGenetics and molecular research : GMR
- 2015
Primary mammary epithelial cell cultures were established from mammary tissue of lactating and non-lactating goats to assess the expression of beta-casein (CSN2) in vitro and CSN2 expression appeared to depend on subtle differences in physiological state of the starting tissue material, growth conditions, cell types present in the culture, and methods used for cell culture establishment.
Establishment and Characterization of an Omasal Epithelial Cell Model Derived from Dairy Calves for the Study of Small Peptide Absorption

Data suggested that PEPT1 contributes to small peptide absorption in OECs, which may serve as a useful culture model for the study of the absorption of small peptides in bovine omasum.

It can be concluded that primary cultures and cells of the second passage derived from heifer individuals appeared to be the best materials for the analysis of mammary gland function and gene expression activity.
Establishment of Mammary Gland Model In Vitro: Culture and Evaluation of a Yak Mammary Epithelial Cell Line

The established cell line could be considered a model system to understand yak mammary gland biology and could be continuously subcultured for more than 60 passages without senescence.
β-casein gene expression by in vitro cultured bovine mammary epithelial cells derived from developing mammary glands.

Real-time qPCR and epifluorescence microscopy analyses revealed that alveolus-like structures were competent at expressing Emerald green fluorescent protein (EmGFP) driven by the β- casein promoter, independent of β-casein expression.
Molecular clonning, expression and fuctional characterization of buffalomammary gland glycoprotein(MGP-40).
- Biology
- 2013
The present investigation suggests that MGP-40 carries out a protective function for the mammary epithelial cells in buffalo mammary gland for ensuing lactation and also signifies its expression as an indicator of apoptosis induction in mammary glands.
