Essential oils in the needles of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.)

  title={Essential oils in the needles of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.)},
  author={M. Sporek},
The aim of the study was to determine the content of essential oils in pine needles in 3 canopy zones (lower, middle and upper) of model trees, for 3 youngest needle cohorts (1, 2 and 3 years old). The research revealed a clear increase in the content of essential oils from the lower through the middle to the upper part of the crown. The lowest oil content was found in 3-year-old needles (0.40%), while 1-year and 2-year old needles contained 0.48 and 0.49% of oil, respectively.

Changes in the Essential Oil Composition in the Needles of Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) Under Anthropogenic Stress
Current-year needles were more effective as indicators of the effects of pollution than 1-year-old needles in the cases of the NFF and the OR transects, and both-aged needles were equally valuable in the case of the CF tran Sectors. Expand

The essential oil qualitative and quantitative composition in the needles of Pinus sylvestris L. growing along industrial transects.
Along transects an increase in the amount of some diterpenes and a decrease in the components of the shorter chain essential oils was observed, which could be at least partially attributed to SO(2). Expand
