We investigate the error performance of a communication system where a nonuniform memoryless binary source is transmitted via Gray-mapped M-ary phase-shift keying or quadrature amplitude modulation over memoryless Rayleigh fading channels, and demodulated via optimal maximum a posteriori detection.
