Overexpression of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is correlated with a poor prognosis in several human malignancies. In addition, cancers overexpressing EGFR respond poorly to both chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Therefore, EGFR is a viable target for cancer therapy.
