INTRODUCTION Penile size continues to receive popular and empirical attention. [] Key MethodMETHODS Data are from an Internet-based baseline phase of a large prospective daily diary study that compared men's use of a standard-sized condom to men's use of a condom sized to fit their erect penis. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES The main outcomes are participant characteristics, activities engaged in during self-measurement process, and self-reported erect penile length and circumference.

Tables from this paper

Penile length and circumference dimensions: A large study in young Italian men
The increase in BMI leads to a reduction in thelength of the erect penis, as well as weight gain reduces the length of the flaccid penis.
Erect penile dimensions in a cohort of 778 Middle Eastern men: establishment of a nomogram.
A nomogram of erect penile dimensions in a large sample of Middle Eastern men can be used as a standard when advising men with small penis anxiety to educate and reassure concerned men about the size of their penises.

Abstract Most men believe that the average length of an erect penis is greater than 6 inches (15.24 cm). This belief is due, in part, to several often-cited studies that relied on self-reported
Penile size in adult men—recommendations for clinical and research measurements
The data on measurement methods of the flaccid, stretched, and erected penis is reviewed with the aim of constructing a recommendation for best practice and no definitive evidence favoring one measuring method over the other is found.
Patient Selection and Counseling
The purpose of this chapter is to introduce the measurements of penile dimension, summarize the available literature on penile size, discuss conditions that contribute to penile shortening, and
Women's Preferences for Penis Size: A New Research Method Using Selection among 3D Models
These first estimates of erect penis size preferences using 3D models suggest women accurately recall size and prefer penises only slightly larger than average.
A cross-sectional cadaveric study of the correlation between genital organ measurements, serum testosterone, and serum prostate-specific antigen levels in Japanese male subjects.
Using autopsy provided insight into genital organ measurements free of patient selection bias and other disadvantages of live patient testing, and with a larger sample size, autopsy studies may be of use to future adjustment of nomograms.
The effects of pornography on sexual minority men’s body image: an experimental study
ABSTRACT Pornography’s effects on sexual minority men have not been extensively researched. Studies specifically examining its effects on body image in both heterosexual and sexual minority men have

Studies on self-esteem of penile size in young Korean military men.
In consultation, with a patient requesting penile augmentation, the urologist should consider the psychologic attitude of the patient to his penile size.
Test-Retest Reliability of the Measurement of Penile Dimensions in a Sample of Gay Men
Self-measurement strips are both convenient and acceptable, and widely reported in the literature, they only have moderate test-retest reliability, which may be due to both natural variability in penis size within subjects over time and unreliability of the measurement method.
Penile length and circumference: an Indian study
There are significant differences in the mean penile length and circumference of Indian sample compared to the data reported from other countries, andPenile dimensions are found to be correlated with anthropometric parameters.
Penile length is normal in most men seeking penile lengthening procedures
It is shown that most men who seek penile lengthening surgery overestimate ‘normal’ penile length and most found the use of a nomgram to show them how they compared with other men helpful.
The development and validation of the Male Genital Self-Image Scale: results from a nationally representative probability sample of men in the United States.
The M GSIS was found to be reliable and valid, with the MGSIS-5 (consisting of five items) being the best fit to the data.
Penile Length and Circumference: A Study on 3,300 Young Italian Males
An extensive study in young Italian males to provide estimates of normal variations of penile dimensions is carried out and penile length and circumference are suggested to consider themselves as two bodily measures which display a wide extent of normal variability along the general population.
Penile size and somatometric parameters among Iranian normal adult men
As the penile augmentation is still in its experimental stage and its indications have not yet been clearly established, providing standardized data on penile dimensions seems to be necessary to make convenient decisions in the counseling and/or treatment of people with short penis concerns.
Does size matter? Men's and women's views on penis size across the lifespan.
The media equate a man’s penis size with his power and masculinity. Views about penis size were assessed in an Internet survey of 52,031 heterosexual men and women. Most men (66%) rated their penis
The Relation Between Sexual Orientation and Penile Size
On all five measures of penile length and circumference, homosexual men reported larger penises thandid heterosexual men, and Explanations for these differences are discussed.
