Abstract

A randomized comparative study of rifampicin and ciprofloxacin for eradicating nasopharyngeal carriage of meningococci was undertaken in Malawi. Of 1878 contacts of persons with meningococcal meningitis, 1875 were evaluatable for safety and efficacy of the drugs.
