PURPOSE Nasal polyposis (NP) is characterized by an increase in inflammatory processes including fibrosis. Because transforming growth factor beta (TGF-beta) has been proven to induce fibrosis, we hypothesize that TGF-beta and its receptors are present in NP and influence polyp development.
